FDA Warning: Novartis Recalls Potentially Contaminated Products

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced that Novartis Consumer Health, Inc. will be recalling all Excedrin® and NoDoz® products with an expiration date of December 20, 2014 or earlier, as well as all Bufferin® and Gas-X Prevention® products with an expiration date of December 20, 2013 or earlier.

The company is recalling these items due to potential contamination with stray caplets or capsules from other Novartis products. The products may also contain chipped or broken tablets. A combination of different drugs in one bottle may result in an overdose, interaction with another medication taken by the patient or an allergic reaction.

The FDA advised consumers in possession of these products to stop taking them immediately and to return them to Novartis for a full refund.
