Cocoa Compound Reduces Appetite

A new clinical trial shows that taking a non-alkalized cocoa mixture supplemented with epicatechin, a flavanol found in cocoa, at doses of 1.6 mg/kg bodyweight reduces food intake by 18.7% in healthy men. Cocoa mixtures with lower doses of epicatechin did not significantly reduce food consumption. Cocoa mixtures containing procyanidins, another cocoa flavanol, also did not reduce appetite.
